Human Rights Defenders from Iran and Zimbabwe share 2006 Martin Ennals Award
The Jury of the Martin Ennals Award for Human Rights Defenders (MEA) announced on Tuesday 23 May in Atlanta that the 2006 laureates are Akbar Ganji, Iran, and Arnold Tsunga, Zimbabwe.

The ICJ today called on the Knesset to repeal a law that prevents Palestinians from the Occupied Territories being united with their Israeli spouses after a small majority of judges (6-5) upheld the law on 14 May.

Expert Legal Panel begins work on corporate accountability for international crimes
On 9 May 2006 the ICJ launched its Expert Legal Panel on Corporate Complicity in International Crimes.
The Panel, comprised of eight eminent lawyers from across the globe, will define and clarify when corporations can, and should be, held accountable for their involvement in international crimes such as torture, war crimes, crimes against humanity and genocide.
Conference organised jointly by the Swiss and German sections of the ICJ
On 16 and 17 June 2006, the Swiss and German Sections of the ICJ jointly organise a Conference entiltled: “European Convention on Human Rights and National Legal System: Tensions and Cooperation.”
The conference will be held at the European Insitute of Basel University.
