The ICJ today called on the Fijian military to withdraw the threat of a coup d’état and for the Government and military to resolve the current impasse through democratic means that respects the rule of law.

The ICJ today called on member states of the United Nations Human Rights Council to closely scrutinize the human rights situation in Sri Lanka.
The ICJ renewed its call for the establishment of a fully-fledged human rights operation in the country.
“There is little neutral space left in Sri Lanka. Civilians are suffering the human rights and humanitarian consequences of a deepening conflict and unaccountable armed forces on all sides”, said the ICJ.
