Fact-finding mission to the Kingdom of Swaziland

Threats to judicial independence, in violation of international human rights standards, are deeply rooted and routine in Swaziland, states the ICJ’s Centre for the Independence of Judges and Lawyers in a report released today.

The ICJ concludes that periodic attacks on the judiciary by the Executive reveal an Executive attitude that holds the judiciary, the rule of law, and the separation of powers in virtual contempt, in particular when they conflict with entrenched interests.
