The International Commission of Jurists (ICJ) and the Due Process of Law Foundation (DPLF) submitted written legal comments to the Inter-American Court of Human Rights (IACHR) in relation to the Advisory Opinion requested by Mexico on “the activities of private companies engaged in the firearms industry and their effects in human rights”.
In their submission, the ICJ and DPLF set out some main tenets of international law and jurisprudence as developed by Inter-American human rights Court and Commission and the UN human rights treaty bodies.

Lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender and intersex (LGBTI) individuals in Sri Lanka have too often been subjected to discrimination, abuse, violence and harassment in violation of their human rights. Throughout the years research reports have continuously identified the Sri Lanka Police as the foremost perpetrators of human rights violations against LGBTI individuals. Developments in the last few months saw both the Sri Lanka Police and the Human Rights Commission of Sri Lanka (HRCSL) acknowledging this fact and seemingly taking steps to remedy the situation.

The International Commission of Jurists (ICJ), in collaboration with the Nationwide Movement “Yuksalish” and the UN Office of the High Commissioner for Human Rights Regional Office for Central Asia (ROCA), has announced the launch of the first Human Rights Summer School on Economic, Social, and Cultural Rights (ESCR) in Uzbekistan from 14 to 18 August.
Organized within the framework of “Enhancing the Quality of Uzbekistan’s Application of International Law (EQUAL)”, funded by the European Union, this five-day educational course stands to make a real impact in advancing human rights education in Uzbekistan.

The International Commission of Jurists (ICJ), and 12 other organizations, submitted an open letter to the State President urging the Vietnamese authorities to halt the execution of Nguyễn Văn Chưởng immediately, and to initiate a prompt, impartial and effective investigation into allegations that he was tortured to compel him to “confess” guilt.
