En un documento publicado hoy, la Comisión Internacional de Juristas (CIJ) llama la atención sobre los numerosos obstáculos y restricciones a los que se enfrentan las abogadas y los abogados en Venezuela al ejercer su profesión.
Las abogadass y los abogados que actúan de forma independiente son frecuentemente sometidos a acosos, intimidaciones, e incluso, a sanciones penales. Las abogadas y los abogados que actúan en casos de alto perfil, particularmente en casos con contenido político o que involucran violaciones a los derechos humanos, están especialmente en riesgo.
Como demuestra el documento, el entorno institucional no garantiza adecuadamente la independencia del sistema judicial, ni la protección de los derechos humanos.
