While noting that discrimination based on sex is prohibited by Article 9 of the Constitution, the 2010 Law for Prevention and Protection Against Discrimination and the 2012 Law on Equal Opportunities for Women and Men, the Committee is concerned at the failure of the State Party to explicitly prohibit discrimination on the grounds of sexual orientation and gender identity following its pledge to do so at the last Universal Periodic Review in 2009 (A/HRC/12/15, para 46).
11. The Committee calls upon the State party to amend national gender equality and anti-discrimination laws in order to explicitly prohibit all forms of discrimination against women, in all areas covered by the Convention, in accordance with its pledge to do so at the Universal Periodic Review in 2009.
