Southeast Asia Security Laws database

Many ASEAN Member States continue to adopt repressive security laws that have on many occasions, impeded the freedom and rights of their citizens. ICJ recognises this ongoing challenge and has developed an electronic database covering a comprehensive list of security legislation in all 10 ASEAN Member States: Brunei, Cambodia, Indonesia, Myanmar, Lao PDR, Malaysia, Philippines, Singapore, Thailand and Viet Nam.

The database is organised thematically and has over 300 selected laws in its collection. Some of the topics included are computer crimes, counter-terrorism, criminal and penal codes, freedom of expression and association, and anti-money laundering.

This online documentation centre seeks to contribute to the work and knowledge of human rights activists, legal practitioners, judges, students and the general public.
