This document summarizes an analysis undertaken by the ICJ of Israel’s Separation Barrier (hereafter: Barrier) in light of international law, in particular international human rights and humanitarian law.

The ICJ’s Centre for the Independence of Judges and Lawyers and Avocats sans Frontières (Belgium) released their report on the trial of Huseyin Cangir, a lawyer who has represented Kurdish clients alleging acts of torture by state agents.

Four Turkish lawyers who were charged with “professional misconduct” for having represented villagers evicted from their homes by Turkish security forces were acquitted on 24 December. The ICJ concludes that the criminal charge amounted to harassment and intimidation of Turkish lawyers.
