Sri Lanka: Upholding Rule of Law is the need of the hour

Sri Lanka’s President Gotabaya Rajapaksa should immediately submit his promised resignation and the Sri Lankan Parliament should immediately convene and follow a transition process in accordance with the Sri Lankan Constitution, said the International Commission of Jurists (ICJ) today.

Thailand: Lawmakers should expedite the enactment of the Draft Prevention and Suppression of Torture and Enforced Disappearance Act

Today, the ICJ, along with five other international human rights organizations, submitted a letter to the President of the Senate and the Chair of the Extraordinary Committee Considering the Draft Prevention and Suppression of Torture and Enforced Disappearance Act calling for an end to the protracted delay in finalizing and adopting legislation aimed at protecting against torture, other ill-treatment and enforced disappearance.
