The purpose of the Review is to focus attention on the problems in regard to which lawyers can make their contribution to society in their respective areas of influence and to provide them with the necessary information and data.
It is important to note that the contents of this issue were written before the Israeli invasion of the Lebanon and before the conclusion of the hostilities in the Falkland Islands.
Moreover, in this issue the text has been reproduced in full of ILO Convention No. 141 concerning Organisations of Rural Workers and their Role in Economic and Social Development, and of the ILO Recommendation 149 on the same subject. Although adopted by the Governing Body on 4 June 1975, only 22 countries have ratified the Convention.In the view of the ICJ, these instruments are of primary importance for true development. These texts have been reproduced in the hope that lawyers in other countries will urge their governments to ratify and apply them.
