The Third Committee of the General Assembly of the United Nations adopted, by consensus, the Convention for the Protection of All Persons from Enforced Disappearances.
The UN Human Rights Council adopted the International Convention for the Protection of All Persons from Enforced Disappearances and decided to send it to the UN General Assembly for adoption.
Six human rights groups issued the following oral statement.
The ICJ and other rights groups call on Member States of the Human Rights Council to adopt the draft International Convention for the Protection of All Persons from Enforced Disappearance at its first session in June 2006 and transmit it to the General Assembly for its final adoption.
