The ICJ’s Centre for the Independence of Judges and Lawyers today welcomed the appointment of Mr. Leandro Despouy, from Argentina, as the new Special Rapporteur on the independence of judges and lawyers.
In a letter addressed today to President Museveni of Uganda, the ICJ expressed its concern that the Law Council might enforce a 1977 regulation to abrogate freedom of expression for lawyers.
