The ICJ called today for the establishment of an accountability mechanism to investigate abuses and violations of international law in Afghanistan amids the widespread violations of human rights, including women rights, in the country.
Yesterday’s mass convictions of opposition party members and human rights defenders on spurious charges should be overturned and the legal provisions used to prosecute them should be repealed or amended in line with international human rights law, said the International Commission of Jurists (ICJ) today.
The ICJ today denounced before the UN Human Rights Council the lack of accountability for gross human rights violations and crimes under international law in Myanmar, as well as the dismal human rights situation of Rohingya and other minorities.
