The ICJ today expressed its concern at the increasing instances of harassment and persecution of lawyers in Belarus following the recent suppression of protests at the outcome of the presidential elections.
The attacks include the initiation and endorsement of disbarment proceedings against lawyers by the Ministry of Justice and attempts to stifle their exercise of freedom of expression.

The ICJ and six other NGOs made written comments on a paper on implementation of the Interlaken Declaration on the future of the European Court of Human Rights.
They include comments on the Final Report of the CDDH to the Committee of Ministers on measures that result from the Interlaken Declaration that do not require amendment of European Convention on Human Rights.

The ICJ and other NGOs submitted written comments to the informal group on accession of the European Union to the European Convention on Human Rights on the occasion of its meeting of 6-8 December 2010.
The NGO paper addressed the proposed co-respondent mechanism of the European Court of Human Rights and consultation with civil society on EU accession to the European Convention on Human Rights.
