The ICJ confirmed today that it is sending at the invitation of the government two observers to attend the trials of persons accused of assassinating Generalissimo Trujillo.
The ICJ has become increasingly concerned over persistent reports from citizens of the Dominican Republic as well as international organizations of the systematic violation of basic human rights and freedoms by the regime.
The ICJ submitted this report on the International Congress of Jurists held in New Delhi, India, on January 5-10, 1959.
